Pastors

Adriaan C. Neele holds a PhD in Historical Theology (Utrecht University) and a PhD in Homiletics (Theological University Apeldoorn). He has taught at various seminaries and universities in Canada, South Africa, and the USA, including Yale University, University of Pretoria, University of the Free State, Africa Institute for Missiology, and Farel Reformed Theological Seminary. Presently, he serves as a Professor of Homiletics and Historical Theology at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids. Dr. Neele is the author of multiple books and articles on early modern Reformed theology, Jonathan Edwards, and homiletics. His works have been published by publishers such as Brill, Wm. Eerdmans, Oxford University Press, Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht, Dunedin Academic Press, and Summum Academic. In addition, he serves on the boards of the Jonathan Edwards Center at Yale University, the Bavinck Institute, and the Dutch Reformed Translation Society. Prior to being called to Gospel ministry, he was an international business executive in the biotechnology, software, and venture capital industry. He and his wife Kornelia are blessed with six children.

Dr. Brian A. DeVries (BBA, M.Div., Th.M., Ph.D.) is Principal and Senior Lecturer at Mukhanyo Theological College. He is a minister of the Reformed Churches of South Africa (GKSA), sent to South Africa in 2005 by our local congregation as a minister of the Heritage Reformed Congregations of North America. Dr. De Vries is presently leading his third church plant in South Africa and also serves visiting professor at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in the United States. He and his wife Lanae are blessed with four children.

Dr. Brian G. Najapfour, a Filipino-born American pastor, holds a ThM from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary and a PhD from the Theological University of Apeldoorn. He has served as a minister of the gospel since 2001, with pastoral experience in both the Philippines and the United States. Now residing in Canada, he pastors the Heritage Reformed Congregation in Jordan, Ontario. Dr. Najapfour is the author and co-editor of numerous books and has contributed articles to various journals, periodicals, and encyclopedias. He and his wife, Sarah, have five children.

Joel R. Beeke (PhD, Westminster Theological Seminary) is the chancellor and professor of homiletics and systematic theology at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. He has served as a pastor since 1978 and currently ministers at the Heritage Reformed Congregation of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is the editor of the Puritan Reformed Journal and The Banner of Sovereign Grace Truth magazine, the board chairman of Reformation Heritage Books, the president of Inheritance Publishers, and the vice president of the Dutch Reformed Translation Society. Beeke has written and coauthored 120 books, edited 120 books, and contributed 2,500 articles to Reformed books, journals, periodicals, and encyclopedias. He frequently lectures at seminaries and speaks at Reformed conferences around the world. The Lord has blessed him and his wife Mary with three children and ten grandchildren.

Dr. Maarten Kuivenhoven earned his BA in Honors History from University of Western Ontario (2004), his MDiv from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary (2010), and his ThM from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary (2011). He completed a PhD from Calvin Theological Seminary (2019) writing his dissertation entitled “Songs of the Son: Exegetical Method, Christology, and Piety in Reformation and Post-Reformation Interpretations of Select Messianic Psalms.” He is an ordained pastor in the Heritage Reformed Congregations (HRC) and previously pastored the Heritage Reformed Congregation of Grand Rapids, MI from 2010-2022. He is married to Jennifer, and they have five children.

Dr. Mark Kelderman completed his seminary training at PRTS and served as the pastor of Heritage Reformed Church in Burgessville, Ontario for 13 years. He received his Doctor of Ministry from Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary, specializing in biblical counseling, and is a certified counselor with ACBC and IRBC. He continues preaching at several local churches and, with his wife, serves the Christian community with counseling. He and Donna have six children and eight grandchildren.

Dr. Michael Bar­rett is a min­is­ter in the Heritage Reformed Congregations. For­merly, Dr. Bar­rett served as pres­i­dent of Geneva Reformed Sem­i­nary. He earned his doc­tor­ate in Old Tes­ta­ment Text with a spe­cial focus on Semitic lan­guages. His dis­ser­ta­tion was titled “A Method­ol­ogy for Inves­ti­gat­ing the Trans­la­tion Philoso­phies and Tech­niques of the Sep­tu­agint.” For almost thirty years, he was pro­fes­sor of Ancient Lan­guages and Old Tes­ta­ment The­ol­ogy and Inter­pre­ta­tion at Bob Jones Uni­ver­sity. Dr. Bar­rett had an active role in the min­istry of the Free Pres­by­ter­ian Church until his coming to PRTS. He is a mem­ber of the Evan­gel­i­cal The­o­log­i­cal Soci­ety and has pub­lished numer­ous arti­cles in both pro­fes­sional and pop­u­lar jour­nals. He contributed to and served as Old Testament editor for The Reformation Heritage KJV Study Bible. Dr. Bar­rett and his wife San­dra have two sons and five grand­chil­dren. Dr. Barrett’s hob­bies include hunt­ing and think­ing about hunting.

Emeritus Pastor
Rev. Bartel Elshout is an emeritus pastor of the Heritage Reformed Congregations. He served as pastor of the Heritage Reformed Congregations of Jordan, Ontario (1998-2005), Chilliwack, British Columbia (2005-2012), Hull, Iowa (2015-2023), as well as the Kalamazoo Reformed Church of Kalamazoo, Michigan (2023-2026). Previous to that he was the founding principal of the Netherlands Reformed Christian School in Pompton Plains, NJ (1975-1984), and served as an evangelist in Denver, Colorado (1984-1989). He is also the translator of Wilhelmus à Brakel’s The Christian’s Reasonable Service [4 vols.], Theodore VanderGroe’s exposition of the Heidelberg Catechism The Christian’s Only Comfort in Life and Death [2 vols.], and Alexander Comrie’s Distinctive Marks of Saving Grace. Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary awarded him an honorary doctorate (DD) in 2026. He was previously married to Joan (1949-2013), has two children, David & Sarah, and seven grandchildren. He is presently married to Clarice (Sept. 19, 2015), and they reside in Inwood, Iowa.

Pastor, Chilliwack, BC

Rev. David Lipsy and his wife Ruth have been married for 43 years and are blessed with 8 children and 35 grandchildren. After attending Rutgers College of Pharmacy for 4 years, Pastor Lipsy completed a B.A. in elementary education and served 14 years as a Christian school teacher and then principal in Wisconsin. He received an M.Div. from PRTS in Grand Rapids, completed introductory and advanced certificate programs in Biblical counseling at CCEF in Glenside, PA, and received a DMin in counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. He pastored Heritage Reformed Congregations in New Jersey for 9 years; Harrison, Arkansas for 5 years; and Burgessville, Ontario for just under 10 years. He now pastors the Heritage Reformed Congregation of Conway, Arkansas, a daughter church of the Harrison congregation.

Emeritus Pastor
Rev. Foppe VanderZwaag, graduated in 2001 from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Before that he was a Christian school teacher for 23 years, the last 12 of those years as a principal of a small church school in Ontario, Canada. He and his wife Elina have 9 children from 23 to 39 years of age, and 20 grandchildren. From September 14, 2001 till September 1, 2013 he was a pastor in the Heritage Reformed Congregation in Grand Rapids. Since September 19, 2013 he was the pastor of Grace Reformed Christian Church in Harrison, Arkansas. Recently he has entered emeritus status and has moved back to Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Rev. Procee's credentials lie with his former congregation in Chilliwack, British Columbia, as he presently serves a denominationally unaffiliated congregation in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
